Frequently Asked Questions

We understand it is a long way to fly and may be out of your comfort zone. Good!

How will our group be spiritually guided and supported during the pilgrimage, and will we have access to Orthodox monks or spiritual leaders?

This pilgrimage is entirely built around guided and learned scholars and spiritual leaders who will be present with you throughout the entire journey. You will be offered one-on-one time to spend with these leaders as you walk ancient paths.

What is the itinerary and schedule for the pilgrimage, and how much free time will we have for personal reflection and exploration??

The itinerary will be sent to you before you leave on your pilgrimage. There will be plenty of time for personal reflection and downtime to relax, pray, rest, explore, and meditate.

What level of physical ability is required for this pilgrimage, and are there accommodations for those with mobility or health concerns?

The terrain on Mount Athos is rugged and can have steep elevation changes. We suggest you prepare to hike and be in the best shape possible. Some monasteries are reached by vehicle, so there are more leisurely days and enough downtime to catch up on rest and recover. There are accommodations for those with minor health concerns. We can address those on a case-by-case basis.

What are the accommodations and dining arrangements, and how will our group be transported within Greece and on the Holy Mountain?

Athos Journey will provide breakfast and dinner. On the Holy Mountain, the Monks also cook breakfast and dinner. We have vehicles both in Thessaloniki and on Mount Athos. We take care of all transportation from the moment you land until you are returned to the airport at the end of the Pilgrimage.
